Perspective
As I was heading home yesterday from getting some dinner for myself, I was stopped by a lady that was crying and asking for a ride across town. She didn’t have a jacket, only a hoodie, and I knew I couldn’t leave her stranded there in the arctic chill that was coming in.
So I agreed to give her a ride because she seemed distraught, cold, and in need of this small favor. As I was transporting her I quickly discovered that she was a very desperate prostitute in need of some fast cash. I told her that I was not going to give her money for anything but I did buy her some food before I happily went along my merry way.
While it was an incredibly awkward car ride, it did make me appreciative afterward of my life choices and opportunities. While I’m not where I want to be, I am not in a desperate situation and relying on constant debasing actions to survive.
So take that for what it is and count yourself lucky.
